The dogshower project started in my internship in 2019, back when I studied productdesign at the HfG in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Together with my colleagues Janina Urbach, a Business Designer and our Coach for the right methodology, Rachel Leow, we were working on the Research, the User Experience, the Design and the Feaures of the product, as well as the branding and the Ci for our first MVP test-series.
We launched the first furly MVP's in 2020 and launched the Hansgrohe Dogshower in 2021 and shorly afterward we won the German Innovation award in 2021.
FROM FURLY MVP'S TO HANSGROHE DOGSHOWER
The DogShower project started in 2019 when I was a design intern at the Hansgrohe InnoLab. My colleague Janina Urbach and I started the DogShower peoject and were methodically coached by Rachel Leow. During the project we followed (& managed to improve) our InnoLab innovation process.
The project was tested under an incognito brand as an early MVP to understand the market and the problems and desires of our customers. The project title in 2019 was furly and needed a whole new Ci that differentiated itself from the Hansgrohe Brand to test if our customers like the idea of the dogshower independently, without the backup of a big and established brand like Hansgrohe.
As an Innovation Design Intern I was part of the intense research, user interviews & tests to develop the product and design the DogShower and it's features, as well as the Communication Design which included the whole furly Ci that needed to be transfered to the packaging, the website, flyers and other prints as well as the instagram test page and it's content.
Since we are working with a Lean-Start-Up mentality we need to be really quick to test out our ideas and speak with the customer to understand their pains and gains better.
As an Innovation Designer in the InnoLab you're switching your roles from a
UX-Expert in the early project phase to a product designer in the creation phase and later into a communication- /graphic designer to get into the role of a creative director to test the ideas/projects in the market.
PRODUCT & FEATURES
The Hansgrohe DogShower is equipped with three different spray types to clean your dog optimally. You can choose the desired spray type by clicking the select button on the back od the showerhead. The long silicone nozzles ensure that the water reaches the undercoat of your pet and wets the coat well. The nozzles also serve to brush the shampoo out of the fur. This way, no shampoo remains in the coat and you avoid skin irritations for your pet. The water boost button is used to increase the water flow by 50%. As soon as you release the button the waterflow is reduced, this prevents flooding in the bathroom if the dog jumps out of the bathtub or shower and you need to act quickly to get him back in position. The DogShower has an ergonomic handling, you need only one hand to use the product since you need the second hand to hold your dog while cleaning or to shampoo the fur.








GERMAN INNOVATION AWARD 2021
With our interdisciplinary team consisting of a Business Designer, an Innovation Designer, a Facilitatior & Coach, Productdesigners from Phoenix Design which helped evolving the product details, the Hansgrohe R&D and Marketing team, our Projectmanager and many, many more team members, we managed to turn our
MVP into a real product and were awarded the German Innovation Award in 2021.
